Led spotlights flashing + how do I fix a faulty one?

I've bought a whole load of led spotlights to replace just standard bulbs

Problem: some of them are flickering

I've looked up and came across an article that says it's because of the low voltage

What can I do to fix?

I would add that I don't have a dimmer - all lights are just on off ones

Several possible causes

What voltage/type are your LED lamps?

If they replace 12v (MR16-type) lamps that have transformers, then the old transformers may not be compatible with the very low current requirements of the LED light. Many 12v transformers need at least 20watts for them to work properly. You may need toreplace the transformers with LED drivers, or rewire the circuit so several LED lights are on one transformer - that might ensure there is at least the minimum curent being drawn.

When are they flickering. Is it when switched on or when the switch is Off ?

i just checked... and the bulbs say they are 12v
really odd: the bulb that was causing the problem... it doesn't flicker that much now... it does flicker... every now and then

as for when flicker... erm... when its on
how can it flicker when it's off? i'm sure ur reply had more meaning...

The only thing you're missing is that "it happens"! Some energy-saving and LED lamps need to little electricity to produce at least an occasional 'flicker' that it quite often happens that 'stray pickup of electricity' by the wiring can result in some flickers when the light is switched off. This clearly isn't what you are experiencing but, when it does happen, there is a 'fix' which usually works!

i've bought about 16 bulbs... so may come across the problem

another question: i have another socket that just isnt working. dumb question: what do i do... replace the transformer? how can i test that this is what needs replacing? there's another but connecting the transformer... could that need replacing? or maybe there's a fuse somewhere? thanks!

The 'fix' involves installing one or more 'suppressors' in the lighting circuit, which essentially get rid of any 'stray electricity pick up' by the wiring. If you do encounter this problem,let us know, and someone will be able to give you more details.

i've just replaced in the bathroom 4 bulbs
great! except 10 seconds later one of the bulbs is half lit
it stays like that
at first, it was one of the other bulbs. now its another one

EDIT....... damn and double damn!
all 4 light bulbs are half lit

is it the same fix u mention?

i'm scratching my head now
spent nearly £100 on the LED bulbs

The driver in the picture, the Collingwood one, is a good quality driver for ( as it says on the case ) halogen lamps. It is there fore unlikely to be compatible with LED lamps.

If that halogen lamp driver is driving your 12 volt LED lamps then problems are inevitable.
