Have a look at John Ward's excellent explainations and diagrams. here's the bit on ring final circuits, https://flameport.com/electric/socket_outlet_circuits/ring.cs4
but everything on this site will help you!

Fellow class mate sent me this how the radial should be done.

Tell him sockets need to be rcd protected

The ring circuit is not a ring! If it were a ring then there would be two conductors at the mcb, neutral and earthg bars.

Maybe its the way you have drawn it, but the ring starts and ends in the CU, not outside.

It's our old friend, the lollipop, so almost a ring. OK if the "stick" cable is 4mm². Or possibly 6.

PS What is the double pole device at the top of the two diagrams?

I was thinking that but the top sketch is like that aswell? Is the top sketch part of the question? Or did you do that?

A red herring? Put there to see if the students can follow instructions, and not do things not asked for?

Or sloppy workbook production - what's the betting that a future question is about adding that accessory into the existing circuit?

[morqthana]

Maybe a stupid question, but in this diagram, wouldn't the sockets be always live?

People tend to like that with final circuits.

The fcu would not stop electricity from going to the sockets.

Why do you think it would be supposed to?

[morqthana]

Excuse the messy lines but I will neat it up on fresh diagram if wiring looks ok now?

No, you've bridged the ring in two places.

OK using a RCBO then will I get higher or lower marks for that? Next you will want a SPD.

Radial with RCBO. Sorry, yes he need to understand a ring final, I after my accident went to collage, I was allowed to sit in on a course, and I really wondered what children are taught is school, simple question, what as well as copper can be used at a conductor, I looked around the class, and could not believe no answers, and when I suggested gold, they felt I was leading them astray.

What they would have done with mercury I don't know, likely they think its a bit of music out of the Planets Suit.

I looked at the lecture, and he said, I knew would would not fit in, but thought you needed to see for yourself.

So I did access to HE, and "A" levels, mainly to learn photography, and even that seemed super simple, learnt more in local photography club.

Lower you didn't out the fly lead to the neutral bar

The post by jj4091 is the first to really get the point across. We're not trying to produce a schematic diagram, but to show how the wires (which are inside cables) will run.
Personally I think the printed material from this course is not fit for purpose, and was churned out with very little thought or understanding.

Any better? Fly lead now included for @pete01
