The bifold doors at the back of my property currently open up directly onto the grass of the garden. In the longer term, I’m likely to get a proper patio or decking installed by professionals. However, I’m wanting to install something myself as a short term solution to do me for a few years. I’m thinking of using these Ikea deck tiles.

I was thinking I’d just dig up the grass and place them directly, however, there’s a slight complication that the ground is uneven, and the ground is higher further from the property. As it stands, the bifold doors only just clear the grass at the far end:

Aside from the clearance issue, I don’t want to cause problems with rain pooling outside the bifold doors if I put the tiling down.

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to proceed? I only have basic equipment such as a shovel and spirit level. Could I try and dig out an area and try and reverse the gradient in the area with only basic equipment? And if so, would it make sense to put anything between the mud and decking (e.g. a sand layer)?
