Browsing the online news pages, it looks like it's potentially within hours of it coming to an end. One can only hope so.

They said @ 18:00 , 20 mins until they took over.
Will be a few days yet!

I can't really see what the endgame is? Sure the rebels have taken over, recent reports are now saying looting is going on, so unless they find Gadaffi, and string him up, nothing will happen? Unless an external force goes in, to sort things out? There seems no structure for the rebels to create a Government?

It's like the inmates have taken over the Asylum, what next?

And the rules seem to be that no external force can go in to sort out anything. I can't see Gadaffi killing himself, or giving up, or getting strung up, so it seems like a free for all.

The only likely scenario I see, is a nuclear bomb being dropped, wiping out all those rebels, from someone friendly with Gadaffi, ie China, N Korea, etc...

It really is open ended...

I wonder who the new despot will be.
We've got a spare ex-pm who's been mouthing off today about the causes of civil unrest. Libya is more than welcome to have him if they want.

If you ACTUALLY read WHAT I write, see the part of his mates from China, North Korea, Russia maybe?

NATO is helping, but some other source, as always, provides the weapons, but Gadaffi is friends with powerful nations. And my point was that there is no endgame...

The latest reports suggest that (as we speak) Gadaffi is hiding somewhere near the Tunisian border.

You are correct in that his "friends" have included a variety of other countries who would not want the Western democracies to do so well out the the new regime in whatever form it eventually takes, for a whole load of political and economic reasons. Somehow I suspect that they probably realise that Gadaffi's game is up and they will not benefit by reinstating him. The other point of course is that they didn't seem quite so forthcoming in offering him either political or military support throughout the conflict.

It seems that the Libyan people have had a bad time even worse than we have been led to believe. All the money that could have been used for the people has been syphoned of for Gaddafi's wants.
I think they should stop calling the fighters against Gaddafi, Rebels.
They are, I hope, liberating Libya from tyranny. Rebels in Western terms especially USA are always bad people, so it's the usual American two faced confusion.
I reckon the United Nations will be invited in but there will be resistance to this from Islam.

I think you confuse Libya, with Somaliia? or vice versa? Funds have been sucked up, by nations, to pay for war, rather than aid?

Like a lot of people we only have sound bites and news bits to go on about what is going on in other countries. Basing it on that level of information the Dictatorship in Libya were very selfish and did nothing to help the ordinary public unless they toed the line.
I have little to go on in Somalia so cannot make the comparison like you do.
Libya's situation is clear cut. I think more like Egypt and Syria.

The situation within these countries have been well known for many years, It would take a very naive person, or a dictator, to presume otherwise. You really didn't have any understanding about global politics over the last 40 years? It's towed the line BTW.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it is "toe'd the party line" as it refers to the placement of one's feet and not pulling something. An extremely rare error from you Mickymoody which I know you'll chuckle at :)

Libya is basically four tribes who have fought each other for ever. They'll soon get back to business as usual.

Libya is a bit of a mess. The rebels are a rag tag bunch and without NATO's firepower they would never have even got close to Tripoli. What i find interesting is WHY are Nato supporting these rebels? These rebels contain large elements of Al-Qaeda, and Fundamentalist Islamist fighters who have fought "coalition" fighters in Iraq, Afghanistan. It even includes people that fought with Abu Musab Al Zaqarwi (head of arab factions of Al-qaeda)in Iraq. These people have explicitly stated on numerous occasions they want Libya governed under Shariah/Islamic law and want Libya to be an Islamic state. Western intelligence are well aware of this, so i find it odd they are prepared to help these people come to power.
