Light not working properly

Thankyou EFL impundance I will try swapping the red and yellows over and let you know how I get on. Fingers crossed.

I was with my dad when we did this and I suggested we take a photo but he said he didn't need it! The yellow and brown is earth yes and I have screwed it at the back of the metal box. The old dimmer was working ok before so am guessing it may be the wiring on the new dimmer.

Well it’s actually yellow and green, not brown, from what I can see on the photo, hence me asking. Brown on harmonised colours is Live/Line conductor.

Because your new switch has a metal faceplate, you must now connect the earth wires to it.
