Hi fitted a double light socket a few months ago in downstairs hall for upstairs and downstairs ceiling lights, all worked absolutely fine UNTIL have tried to install 5 bulb spotlight to ceiling from standard rose connection. Have followed instructions but now cannot switch off the downstairs (NEW) light at all but can switch upstairs hall light on and off please help - starting to get stressed!!!! thanks

A light socket could be anything from a 2A round pin socket to a bayonet holder.
Anyway, I suggest you check your wiring in the light fitting. If the switch you fitted worked ok, well done (many cock it up), but dont touch it now. See the forum WIKI for diagrams.
