I live in a housing association house built in 1996.
Between the living room and dining room were double doors that I have removed and blocked the gap. There are two light switches for the lights in the living room, one being next to where the double doors used to be and I would like to remove this switch as it looks strange now the doors are gone!
I will use an electrician to do the work but would someone be able to tell me if it would be a difficult job. By that I mean would it entail taking up floor boards etc as if it does then I'm going to have to live with the switch!!

Thanks

So it's a two way switch, the method of disconnection will vary depending on the way it was configured, it may be a simple task of the strappers being disconnected and made safe but you could have the live feed in to this switch, so could be a little more work involved.
If you could upload a photo of the internal terminals and cables of this switch and the second switch, might be able to give more informative answer.
Isolate circuit and prove dead, prior to removing covers!

There might be terms in your rental agreement where only a HA approved electrician can do any work in your house.
Did they approve the alterations ?

if you just remove the switches then you will be left with live cables not in permitted zones from a visible accessory.

To do the job properly would require the cables being terminated at the other switch or at an accessible (or maintenance-free) junction box which would probably have to be below the upstairs floorboards. I.e. carpets up.
