Light switch wiring confusion!

Hi

Sorry, yet another light switch question!

Here's my set-up:

SwitchA ----------------- SwitchB --------------- SwitchC
1gang/2way Intermediate 2gang/2way
(Landing) (Landing) (Landing)

|
|
SwitchD
1gang/2way
(Downstairs)


Switches A,B & C are on the landing and all control the landing downlighters. The 2nd gang of SwitchC and SwitchD control a light at the bottom of the stairs.

I have swapped Switches A,B & D to new ones and all works well. However, when bring to change SwitchC (the 2gang/2way one) I can't get it configured properly. The original has L1, L2 & Common for each gang whereas the new switch has L1, L2 & L3 for each gang.

How do I go about wiring this as I could have down so much more with the time I've spent trying to sort this today! I'm guessing I can't assume that:

Old New
L1 -->L1
L2 -->L2
C -->L3 because I've tried that and got some strange results.


Anyone care to help me out of my misery please?

L1 (new) = Common (old)

confused with all the above to be honest but

C =L1
L1=L2
L2=L3
