Hi, i did have two light switches in my front room that only one seemed to be working, so as i did not require the one that was not working i removed the switch and taped the wires individually and filled the hole in but unfortunately the other switch that operates the light is no longer working. I have been told that i needed to twist the wires TOGETHER and then tape them. Can anyone help me please on this matter.

sounds like it was a two way switch

dig it all out and put a switch back, let us know what cables you have.

also you can not tape wires then bury them

I just love Sunday nights and Mondays on this forum. Always the same old stuff, usually with 2-way lighting circuits

Millsey, before you dig out that plastered over switch, open up the other switch and tell us what wires are connected to that. There is just a possibility that we can make it work and isolate the cable at that point.
Dont disconnect anything, just tell us whats there.

(Breezer, if its a loopin setup then maybe the switch wire and the 3 core link wires are both at that switch. He could connect up just the switch wire and cut off the 3C+E to isolate the cable......)

is that my only option as i do not require a switch there no longer, can access the cable under the floor boards in the room above if that helps, seem to be lighting cable and a thinner cable running down to were the switch was located.

fraid it is, since the filler will probaly hold the cables in place
