A metal back box for light switch always has earth terminal where earth core is connected.Plastic flush back box do not have earth terminal where earth core could be connected.What to do with earth core,put in a connecter block or cut the cable though other side is connected in batten holder.

Don't cut the cable back. Keep it & sleeve it then fold it away neatly. Or buy a pattress that does have an earth terminal to park it in: most do.

crimp it or put it in a connector block.. you'll need it when the wife decides she wants fancy brass switches..
and for the love of god don't just tuck it back into the box without a crimp or connector block on it.. there's a possibility to short against a live wire then..
