I have just disconnected a strip light the wiring was two black to a blue and one black to a red via a terminal black (earth was also wired in. Does this mean the two black wired to the blue are neutral and the black wired to the red is live? I am connecting a strip of spots so I nedd to know whats what, can anyone help me out? Cheers.

Yes, that sounds about right.

The switched live is often black. It is good practise to mark it as a switched live with a red sleeve over the wire

You will probably find three reds connected together somewhere as well (live in, live out and live to switch), but you probably won't need to disturb them.

Put a red sleeve on the switched live, green/yellow sleeves over the CPCs, (earth) and connect the fitting to the switched live, neutral(s) and CPC
