earlier today I replaced a 2-gang 2-way switch. one light is downstairs landing, and other is living room. i’m certain i wired the switch exactly the same as it was on the old one. the problem is, now the living room light won’t turn off. the downstairs landing is working fine switching on and off. anyone help?

As has been said, we need to see a photo (ideally onwe in which we can read the labelling of the terminals.
2-gang 2-way switches vary in which 'terminal is where' - so it's quite possible that you have put the wires back into terminals which, although in exactly the same places as before, actually do different things as compared with the original switch.
