Ok guys here is a good one for you.

I have built an extension, done all the electrics and one of the things i have done is to install wall lights.

I would love one of those mother and daughter type lamps (think they are called that) Like this one

BUT i would like to wire it so it comes on with the wall lights... Running the wires isn't a problem at the moment as i still have to plaster the wall where it will be going. I don't want to hard wire it and neither do i want to install a single gang socket on the lighting radial that may be mistaken for a plug socket on the 32amp ring.

Is there a way (correct way) of doing this that will not cause concern for BCO.

Cheers Guys.

Mick.

You can use a 5Amp socket and plug. As it is off the lighting circuit which is itself fused at 6A there is no need for a fused plug.

It is a three-pin, round-pinned, small plug. It is correct to use it for plug-in lamps controlled by a light switch. You can put in several sockets around the room to give you flexibility for lamp positions and numbers of lamps.

Remember to fit the socket at 450mm or more due to your creaking old back.

As the plug pins are round, and it's smaller than a 13A plug hardly anyone will mistake it for a power outlet.

Cheers John, Do you mean like the OLD round pin plugs :)

I did see those the other day at the elec shop i go to..

Will this be OK for BCO ? i need to get the periodic done once i have finished adding my bits.

Cheers, Pensdown

You can also get a white or black 5A duraplug which has smoother lines and is resistant to cracking.

I don't see any reason why not, just make sure the sockets are shuttered (I think they all are now anyway).

bloody hell... look at the price :(

i guess thats because they arent that widely used
