Not sure how active this place is but Ill try posing my questions and see if anyone is up for giving their thoughts!
I am installing very light cream limestone tiles.
My plan is the folliwing:
Floor level (concrete screed installed years ago) aside from where hearth was moved - level with Ardex A38mix.
Prime floor with Kerakoll activ prime fix (as part of it is covered in bitumen.
Use Dural decoupling Matt in front room & kitchen areas + Kerakoll biotex on already raised dining room area where we want to minimise hight loss.
Dry lay and cut most tiles and seal on the back using Fila PW10, which is specifically designed for back of tile sealing.
My rational for using the Fila PW10 is that it's a further protection against any staining coming through on what are very light stone tiles. I've considered the grip potential after sealing the back but I think it should be ok as porcelain is non-pourous and it's a penetrating sealant.
Im also hoping that by using this, it will allow me to use a semi-rapid adhesive, rather than rapid. Rapid is usually recommended to help prevent any staining when backbuttering the tile. I'd prefer to not be under as much time pressure!
Also that by using the decoupling matt, we can opt for a slightly cheaper adhesive . Originally we were looking at the kerakoll h40 advanced but it's expensive and probably overkill if using a matt..
Just looking to sound out this approach and to see if anyone has any adhesive recommendations based on how I plan to go about the install.
I'd also like to know how much adhesive people put down as a bed if it's on matting - would it still be 12mm Trowel / 6mm bed when collapsed?
Another question, is I'm using kerakol activ prime fix as this is used to go over bitument, however I'm wondering if there is a glue that could be used instead and double up for bonding the underside of the decoupling matt.
Thank you for anyone whose interested for looking!
