Help... have lined the living room with a 1000 grade paper which was then painted over. Some of the seams are now starting to expand and a couple of the corners have bubbled. What can I do to fix them?

how long since you put it on wall? as most paper "sizes" if you only have small bubbles and you only recently papered it will probably settle.
the other thought i have is excessive paste being used

It was done on about 1 week ago... and perhaps in some places there could have been surplus paste applied.

Unusual for seams to open after painting? So as kev says exessive paste squeesed out @ joints and emulsion has mudcracked? Try touching along all the cracked joints with solvent based undercoat thinned a little with white spirit. Let this dry. min 4 hrs. Then, coat joints with your finishing paint, then emulsion the lot again when it looks like crackling is cured.

Bubbles, can take week to dry out. But if dry gently nick with knife, and ease a little paste behind, let it soak a few min then dab down, repaint/ touch up if your lucky. ;)
