Lintel above window opening

The plan is to remove the window and the wall below to create an opening.
Upon inspection, l can see a concrete lintel behind the dot and dabbed plasterboard, but it seems to finish flush with the opening and not extend 150mm past it.
Why is this and is it safe to take the window out?

Window opening was there before window was fitted.
So take window out.

Lintel must go further and support so investigate

It doesn't look it goes further. I said the same as you though. The opening was there before the window, so how is it supported?

If it is a boot lintel, is it ok to remove the windows and wall below to create an opening?

Boot lintels still have 150mm bearing on the inner skin. They taper in to the size of the frame on the outer skin.
