Hi All,

I'm replacing an "up and over" garage door with Upvc sliding doors. Currently there is nothing above the door opening so I was thinking of fitting a concrete lintel or some angle iron to span the gap and provide some framing for the sliding door. There are block piers either side of the opening which could support the lintel (or angle iron).... Is this the a common thing to do?... Can I just bed it onto some mortar?

Pics for ref:

Thanks for any advice.

Thanks noseall... I hadn't thought of that.... Do you think something along these lines would work?
