I am due to replace the two smoke alarms in my house as they are quite old now and was considering replacing them with a model that has 10 year sealed lithium battery but have seen reviews stating the the batteries have only lasted a fraction of the time or have a habit of going off unnecessarily.

The particular model I was considering was the FireAngel FA6620-R-T2.

Wanted to know of views and experiences.
Also, whether it's just better to go for standard replacement battery operated version instead.

Thanks

A friend with one fitted two years ago bleeps for low battery warning. An ST-622.

But it is a rechargeable battery and says it should not be recharged or replaced.

It is meant to last for 10 years and the whole alarm replaced then. Seems to say the smoke detector part only has a life of 10 years.

I therefore conclude the not to charge is to avoid alarms being extended beyond the safe life of the smoke sensor.
