Little help on filling this gap

Hi all.

Firstly let me just say my DIY skills are very very basic, but i am willing learn.

OK, so my problem is this... I started removing some old architrave and skirting boards from a new house, i managed to remove most without to much damage but one section of plaster between 2 doors is completely gone and so is the stuff that was behind it (breeze block type stuff) and now it is just bare block work.

What would be the best way for me to try and repair, or should i just call in a professional?
