If they weren't familiar with the area, that could be an easy mistake to make.
No, he means the driver swerved into the highest density of people on the road.
He stopped when bodies were piled up under the front wheels.

Thanks. That makes more sense. I've not watched the footage. It sounds grim.

The driver really doesn't look like a 53yo man either.
Looks to be mid 30s at most.
I only saw his arse in the video so I couldn't tell his age. Absolutely disgraceful behavior from him. He was reversing into someone banging on his back window. He didn't care who was in front of him either. This was no accident.

I just came across an article in the Telegraph. Apparently, there are lots of people now claiming that something fishy is going on in that respect. I think the Police have until tomorrow to charge the perpetrator. So, maybe we will find out then.

I never really liked criminal law. But if they do add some OAPA offences, I remember there being crimes of basic intent and strict intent. And that being intoxicated could be a potential defence to the more serious offences such as GBH with intent.
You’ve remembered well. It would depend on the purpose of the intoxication. If it was to give him the balls to go through with it, then there is no defence. But I think attempted murder is a stretch unless he said something under interview.

The cops have to throw that one or else they would be under the public outrage along with the driver- they are protecting themselves.

I don't think ramming through hundreds of people and putting 50 in hospital will look too good by saying you was pi$$ed up and high on drugs. That old chestnut of not being myself won't wash. The sentence that he will recceive will be nothing in comparrison to what all those involved have gone through, some may never recover after this morons actions. Everytime they hear a screech of brakes, a loud car engine etc will probably haunt them forever more. When will our justice system make the punishment fit the crime.

Yes I bet they try to wriggle out and blame some other for not closing off the road after the ambulance went through.

This is an issue it should be a separate sentence for each person and served one after the other.

What was he charged with and what was his punishment?
His sentence will not reflect what he has done, you obviously have more faith in it or you feel sorry for him, like you say, you believe everyone should be treat the same. Absolute poppycock
