Loft Insulation firm + Grant

Can anybody recommend a company which installs loft insulation and makes all the applications for grants etc for you (passing along the savings etc) in the Worcester Park area, Surrey?

Ask your local council. Most of them run schemes and should be able to help.

Ask pretty mch any of the larger companies in Yellow pages. They come along and give you a quote. at the time, they will ask if you are on any benefeits, receive WT credits, etc., and adjust their quote accordingly.

In the summer, we had our cavity walls filled and extra insulation in the loft (now 10" thick!), and it cost us precisely nothing.

is there insulation already in your loft as my father-in-law just had a quote they said it would be £150 if there wasn't insulation up there or £290 if there was due to the grants they could get so he had to take out all the old insulation himself.

Rubbish. They don't take out the old stuff, they just increase the thickness to the current spec (250mm, I think). Quote should therefore be less, as they will need less insulation. Yes, there was insulation in my loft: 100mm stuff. Now, it's 3 times as thick! They're just trying it on.

If you FiL is in receipt of any kind of benefit, he shouldn't pay anything (which might explain why the contractor is trying to rip him off).

been down there this weekend he had stripped it out and they have layed new 200mm insulation actually cost him £165 in the end, he wasn't being ripped as he is a solicitor and it is one of his clients son's company so expect all is above board.
