Loft stairs

Does anyone know any good company's / Joiners that are reasonable who make loft stairs in or around Liverpool ?

no but I know a good company in Telford that do most of their work over the phone and have yet to see them beaten on price, how complicated is your staircase.

Sorry I have not replied I have just got back off holiday. I am now thinking of just getting loft ladders, for what I am going to use it for I think this is the cheapest and in a way the best option as the loft we have is only small and the stairs will take up a good chunk of the space. My question now is are theses ladders easy to install or should I get a expert to do it ?

diy - last year a pal of mine got a well known high street loft ladder company in to install an ali ladder and a suspended box & hatch, cost him over £450. I installed one in my house a couple of years ago, took a couple of hours, a very easy job. The more complex part was changing the hatch from hinge-up (into the loft) to hinge-down and that only needed a change of hinges and then fitting the catch that came with the ladder. Buy the best quality ladder you can afford ... I got a 'spring-loaded' one from B&Q - the spring mechanism pulls & swings the folded ladder into the loft away from the hatch.

So, yes, these ladders are straightforward to install.

Thank you for your advice. I got the ladders and have installed them today without any problems. The ones I got was the aluminium ones. What my girlfriend has said is they are a bit uncomfy when you have not got any shoes on. I know you are going to say well leave your shoes on. I just thought I will be using them regular as I am converting the loft into a office, and was just wondering do you think if I cut carpet up into pieces that would wrap around the steps. Would there be anyway to fix it securely and neatly to the steps ?
