I’m trying to connect a new replacement PIR sensor to outside security light and have got in a muddle with the wiring. Some advice would be welcome. The bottom right wires are coming from light - yellow, (possibly faded green?) red, blue. Bottom left are from wall mains, brown, black, grey. Wires on top of connector are from PIR sensor and were already fixed in.

Input
Brown = L
Black = N
Grey = Over-ride?

Output
Red = switched L from PIR
Blue = N
Yellow = Over-ride?

Any earth conductors anywhere?

Need a photo of the light fitting and probably a switch inside?

There is an earth nut in the sensor unit. I’m thinking does the yellow wire from light need to connect to that? Someone who helped me, put the yellow wire from light and grey light from input into the connector you see at front of picture.
The switch is inside house ( if that’s what you mean) nearest window in pic.

Sorry - I wasn't 100% clear. The pictures should be of the wiring within the box on the wall where the cables are connected to the PIR and the lamp, and of the light switch in the house

A question I should have asked ... what is the issue you are having? Just a straight replacement? Is the PIR working?

It kept tripping. So security light flashed on for a second, then the fuse box switch tripped off. So thought I’d wired it up wrong. I’m not confident with the colours of wires.

Not a fuse box if it has trip switches and no fuses. Distribution box maybe or CU.

Wires don't know what colour they are, they can be what you want them to be. Need to know where they are connected at the other end.

You are missing a terminal block - should be four.

What make is the PIR? and was the blue loop wire already fitted in the terminal blocks in the first picture? I would be tempted to remove the connections to the lamp from the terminal block for a start and put them in a separate terminal block for safety

It’s an Eterna
PIR110BK
EXTERNAL IP44 110° PIR DETECTOR
And yes, the blue loop was already there.

To me the grey and black on the left could be the wrong way round.
I have swapped them round, but still no luck. When I attach the red wire from right side to both brown live wires, the light stays on when I turn the internal light switch on, so that’s working, but not when I put the red light to the black wire from sensor. Perhaps there’s something wrong with the sensor.

I was just looking at the wiring information. Brown / black on the top of the PIR are swapped but this is not necessarily the problem .

Guessing is not good but I would identify which cable comes back from the PIR and is connected to the black PIR wire, i.e. which red / blue pair. Split these out into a separate two terminal block and connect the brown / blue pair from the the light to these
