Hi, we have some cable lights, two sets attached to the same switch. One set stopped working and an electrician looked and said the transformer needed replacing. The set was from 2008 and I couldn’t find the same model so just ordered two new cable sets, including transformers.
When looking at our existing wiring it is a loop with 3 mains cables. I looked up on loop wiring and from what I can see one should be from the switch, a feed in and feed out. The switch live should be sheathed so it is clear what it is. All 3 lives should go to the same connector and the earth cables should be terminated.
On ours the:
1. Switch live isn’t marked ( I think it is the blue neutral on the left of my pic)
2. Only two live browns go to the choc block. The other goes to the live on the light fitting.
3. Earths aren’t terminated anywhere, just cut short.
I’m going to call a professional to install the lights now, but for my own understanding, is this OK wiring, especially point 2? Or is it not safe?
Cheers
