I live in a block of 8 flats, 4 of the flats have their gas meters located outside my bedroom window, including mine. Average 3 or 4 times a week, there is a very loud banging sound which comes from this area where the meters are located.

I have called Transco about this numerous times and all they do is look at it and say ' can't hear nothing!", which is not helpfull as it is impossible to say at what time the bang will occur. Should i be worried, could it cause an explosion?

Also i am having problems with my own boiler, lots of clicking, cutting in and out.......are these probs connected to the loud banging noise? How can i sort it? Confused as to why the noise comes from the outside meters and not the boiler?

I have my boiler covered by BG

Help

Thanks

I would be very worried, especially if the pipes to the other flats are so undersized you are getting a blowback.

Whatever it needs investigating.

Are they rented or owner flats

I am getting worried!

They are owned flats, half are rented out. I am a live in owner. Can you advise who i need to get to investigate? Have reported it to Transco a couple of times, not sure who else need to speak to?

Is it something you have heard from before then and can it be fixed?

Get BG in to investigate your boiler problems it may help lead to the banging problem.

There is more chance your boiler or a neighbours is at fault (explosive ignition) than so called blow back if a meter had suffered this and even under absolutely perfect conditions this is a very very rare occurence it has happened ,it would be very obvious that it had happened namely the meter would be deformed seals would have gone and it would be pi55ing out gas
