Hi all
First post, so any advice welcome please.

We have a Potterton Netaheat boiler.16 years old, but serviced recently (under Celsius?BG? contract.)

Microbore pipework..(came with house.)
House has been extended and extra rads added about 15 years ago. 12 rads, each with rad thermostats.
Very hard water problem in this area, had powerflush by corgi reg. plumber 18months ago, as rads weren't getting very hot..full of sludge. (Told to by Gas Service engineer...but didn't use them, as they quoted £650!) CH worked fine up until recently.
October :HW was getting too hot, and rads cold, so had new Honeywell silver thingy..(?) fitted under contract, Oct. Rads still cold.
Same week, pump started screeching. Had new pump fitted (under contract..a Multihead III ?) Rads still cold.
Then service engineer broke thermastat on boiler while fiddling about, so had a new one of those fitted.Still cold rads.
Gas Service blokes said we needed ANOTHER powerflush!!! Still cold rads.
Went back to nice local Corgi reg man who did last powerflush.
He said we shouldn't need another one, and came and desludged and treated system. Ran system until clear, then added inhibitor.Bled and balanced all the rads.
The rads are nice and toasty!!
BUT...
We now have this horrible noise coming through the pipework, all through the house, especially when the hot water kicks in. It starts in the pump, which is running on speed 2. Then the noise (now fondly named "The Water Monster" ), travels all round the house, and we have screeching in the walls where the pipes run downstairs.
This starts in the airing cupboard, in our bedroom, and now we are unable to sleep in there for the noise!
I can hear these pipes clanging as I type...any ideas what's causing it?
Sorry for long post, hope you are still awake!
Regards
Janbo

PS Our local "Corgi-man", (who we trust completely...) has offered to fit some sort of "switch box" in the airing cupboard? What is that for, and would it help? I seem to remember it may be something to do with too much heat going to the hot water instead of the rads?
