Low Energy Lighting In New Build

Hi,

Just finishing a new build house and apparently we must put in a certain percentage of low energy lights. Does anybody know where we can get low energy pendants that don't cost 19 times the price of a normal pendant?

I've seen some for £10.50 each at TLC-Electrical. Screwfix are selling the same thing for £19.99!!!

But what miffs me is that we are forced to put these lights in and the manufacturers know this and quadruple the price.

Don't get me wrong I'm all for energy saving, but why can't I put a bog standard pendant in and put a Low-E lamp in? Does the same job.

Personally I think we pay enough for electricity as it is and should be free to choose whatever type of lighting we like. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for energy saving, and 95% of the fittings in my house are fitted with energy saving lamps by choice. Look at it this way though, every kWh of electricity we use mean another penny in your suppliers pocket. Shouldn't they be investing more of this money into the development and installation of sustainable and environmentally friendly energy generation?
