I'm hoping someone can offer some advice on an issue we have, this is my first post on DIYnot and I've tried to be as brief as possible.
We live in a townhouse built in 2013/14; we've been living in it ever since so roughly 12.5 years.
Over the last 4 months or so, we've been experiencing a near total loss of water pressure confined to the shower in our first floor ensuite. The basin taps adjacent are typically fine and in the bathroom on the second floor, there are no pressure issues with any of the bath taps, basin or shower over the bath.
A local plumber came out and it was recommended that we changed the Ideal Standard 'T-bar' valve which we did. Initially (about 3-4 days) the problem seemed to be rectified but in the last week or so, the pressure has almost completely gone again.
The suggestion now is that it could be debris in the system and that the Hot Water Cylinder (A Megaflo 170) might need replacing.
My question is, if it is indeed debris in the system, is there a reliable way of flushing it out and/or performing a service on the HWC rather than needing to replace it at well over £1200 (by the looks of it)? Having done very some basic level research, it looks like modern Megaflo cylinders can be expected to last somewhere in the region of 10-20 years which puts ours at the lower-mid end of that scale (if correct).
