I think I've been duped. Anyway I bought a secondhand gas bottle and I think the fitting is for a forklift truck. Photo attached, sorry for the quality, my phone is crap. Is there anyway this can be fitted with an adapter for an LPG hob? Whenever I phone a engineer I struggle to describe the problem as I do not know the proper terms used for the valves etc so hence the photo. Currently the outside cage can't be built as there is scaff outside so just waiting for that. In the meantime need to know whether I need to sell this bottle on or not.[/img]

I don't know about the fitting on the cylinder you have, but if it is wrong it may be worth asking a bottled gas distributor if they can exchange your cylinder for an appropriate one.

wow don't use it could be a catastrophe !!!!!!!!!!!!

Forklift truck bottles are designed to be a liquid off take the rest gas only

Take it back to where you stol....sorry, bought it from. And get your money back.

The bottle or the valve? In other words can an engineer remove the valve and put something appropriate on or is it the design of the bottle? And no worries guys I'm not attempting anything without qualified engineer.

Just take the bottle back and exchange it fo a vapour take off type - I don't understand why its such an issue its not like its going to cost a fortune - its only a gas bottle!!? :?

No.... forget that no point, just get a new bottle different sizes anyhows trying to get the valve out is vv difficult Ive tried with three foot stillies.

ok my next question is what kind of fitting and bottle do I buy? Please don't just reply "contact your nearest supplier and ask them". I would like to know what kind of valve supplies the propane to the hob. I've already asked the cooker manufacturer the specs and pressure needed etc. Thanks for all the replies by the way.
