Wonderful forum, very informative.

Our Ravenheat Combi LS80T, 5 y old has developed a problem.
Did search on the forum about similar timer problems, but no luck.

Situation is this: for Central Heating press central button on the timer and programme goes from OFF to AUTO then to ON. Previously when it reached ON boiler would fire-up. Now it wouldnt.

Now boiler only ignites when a) timer is left in ON and b) mains is switched off for 35 sec or so then mains is switched back on then boiler ignites.

If timer is just left sit in ON boiler wouldnt fire-up, never.
If a programme is set in AUTO to start at, say, 11am then at 11am timer moves from AUTO to ON (pilot small circle on timer becomes lit red) but boiler woudnt ignite.

However let it sit in ON for a while then switch off mains socket, wait 35 sec or more, then switch mains back on and boiler starts off.

Pressure gauge readings is just above 1.5 bar when cold, just above 2.0 when hot.

Clock on timer is working, small circle pilot on timer is lit when in ON,
programmes work as far as going from AUTO to ON but not for ignition.

Hot water is working fine. All tests above were done when hot taps
were turn off. Hot water works fine after boiler has fire-up for Central Heating, after it fires-up, no hiccups, it cycles fine ON/OFF according to
thermostats. Seven radiators with own thermostats
become hot and stay hot until boiler is switched off with timer.
(For switching off timer works)

Would be grateful if anyone has any advice.

If the voltage is reliably being applied to the call for heat terminal then it sounds like an annoying boiler PCB fault.

Obviously a boiler engineer on the spot would be checking everything properly before changing an expensive component.

Its also worth remembering that the LS80 is not thought of as a very reliable boiler and replacing it might be an alternative to a repair.
