Wouldn't it be wonderful if there was a magic ray you could zap politicians with so that after that, if they ever told a lie, they would drop dead on the spot.

And I do mean actual lies. Just being wrong wouldn't count. Evasion wouldn't count. The option to say "I refuse to answer that" would always be there.

But no more lies.

Thats not the best example of lying..
I'd argue that 80% of the public had no clue what TMs deal means. I think its an example of someone being on the spot and not choosing his words properly - particularly since he retracted it.
