My Potty Lynx 2 has decided to show its old age by developing a drip, apparently from around the washer on the dhw temperature sensor.

What chance do I have of obtaining just the washer? Or would removing the sensor to replace the washer invariably cause damage, so I might just as well replace the whole component?

Many thanks.

Some would say replace the whole boiler!

Have you tried to tighten the sensor first?

Its difficult to buy just the washer.

You can use a little PTFE tape instead!

Thank you Tony - your reply was as helpful as ever - I'll try that tomorrow.

One thing I don't understand - I thought you were keen to repair older boilers rather than replace them - especially as I have the more reliable Lynx 2 rather than the dreadful Lynx 1.

Can you elaborate your thinking here, Tony?

Thanks again!

I said "some"! that does not include me!

I fix boilers most of the time and yours is a VERY minor problem.

Don't mind them, in and out in 10 mins. Awful boilers but they are just bog standard sensors that come complete with washers....why not chuck a new one on?, cheaper than an seal kit.

We have had a Lynx 2 in a rented flat for 12+ years. It has been a fantastic boiler. Never been serviced, only safety checked each year in all that time.

Only had a new pump and a loose connection on the sequence circuit board. I soldered the loose pin and the circuit board was fine. (I bet that is the problem Rob will have.)
Oh, one more fact, it was installed new onto second hand radiators I got from a scrap/demolition yard. times were hard then, didn't even add water treatment.

I LOVE the lynx 2 (the lynx 1 was a bit of a dog)

what sequence board rob a lynx 2 only has one eff off sized PCB

Lynx electronic CM. I dont know in which order they were made but potterton said it could be 15 yrs old.

Tryandsee is right about the dry joints though. Not worth our while repairing it, seeing as i dont carry soldering iron, so given a good price to replace.
