macerator outlet stopcock?

Now that my bathroom refit is underway our ancient macerator downstairs is making some strained noises, so looking for a replacement in preparation for it failing.

I'm just wondering what the red thing is in the attached pic, is it a stop tap so piping can be removed without all the head of shi-water coming back down the 32mm pipe?
If so what is it called? I cannot find it on the Screwfix site?

Yes, you need isolating valves on the inlet and outlet of macerators i believe, to allow for servicing and maintenance.
Some makes dont honour warranty unless they are fitted.
32mm solvent weld ball valve would be what you need, or a compression alternative

There is already one on the supply pipe inlet.

Hello mattylad, something like that yes, but you need to find one that will fit the 32mm pipe. You using 32mm ABS solvent weld? You will need a valve that accepts the outer diameter, its 36mm

That certainly looks like an isolation valve. Do Flomasta metion one in the fitting guide { if provided or listed on their web pages}

Really? C`mon they have what, 3" or 4" inlet and outlets.

No I do not see it mentioned, however I currently have the situation where I have one of those black 40mm rubber non return valves JP carries in a vertical section and I can hear water wooshing back down afterwards (probably got some bog roll stuck in it) so think it just good practice to fit one so I can clean out/repair the saniflo without all that poowater coming back at me, there is a trap at the bottom of the vertical run that can be opened into a flexy bucket but I don't really look forward to that job lol.

This downstairs loo is next on the agenda once the bathroom has been done, in recent years it's been getting a lot more use lol.

I ignore most warranties as they are not worth the loo paper they are written on and they will always try and get out of doing anything.
