macerator toilet can they really be that bad!?

Saniflo is the devil incarnate. We bought a house with two of the damn things but didn't realise what misery they were going to inflict on us.
more likely a bodge install or cheap units.
Anyone who writes a positive post on these things either works for the company or has never had to open the lid on one to repair it.
rubbish
If you can't install normal plumbing buy a potty and forget about installing these things unless you want your bathroom full of unspeakable things on a regular basis and establish a second mortgage on plumbing bills.
more rubbish
If you have too much money and time on your hands and have masochistic tendencies, try getting a non-saniflo plumber to monkey around with one of these things and watch him swear, tear his hair out and charge you like a wounded bull trying to figure it out.

then don't get a plumber that knows nothing about saniflos
obviously a post from someone that knows nothing about saniflo's and has had bad luck with them.

Just came across this post. There's nothing wrong with macerators; every problem I've come across has been to poor installation or not following the usage instructions. Toilet waste cannot come through the sink or shower if the non-return valves are fitted, they only block if you put sanitary towels, condoms or kitchen towels down them; or if the outlet pipe is too small or has too many sharp bends. Older ones are noisier; new ones are almost silent and, as usual, the more you spend the better product you get. Buy the best you can afford and "RTFM" (read the flippin'manual)
