I am going to flush and then drain down my open vent system to replace a trv and fit a magnaclean.
My problem is that i am a little unsure where to fit it.
The website suggests after the pump or in the return. In order to fit it after the pump i would need to also fit it after the divertor valve which would mean upping the pipe size from 15mm (it goes fromm 22 to 15 just after the y valve and then back to 22 after the lower shutoff valve).
This doe's not seem like a great idea to me as it would be after the junction to the y valve.
Alternatively i could fit it on the inlet side to the pump but i am not sure about this and have arrowed the 2 locations for clarity as a picture paints a thousand words!
Can anyone point me in the right direction as i am having a little trouble working out which pipe to fit it to.
Ignore the state of my airing cupboard and the crappy power adapter which is also coming out!

If you fit it on the inlet side of the pump it must be after the cold feed and open vent. The position arrowed before the pump is not suitable.

in my opinion neither, 1st position would put a closable valve in the open vent, the second is on the bypass..
id prob repipe the section just above the pump and fit it there. looks like ya on contract with bg? why not give them a bell asking for a quote to have a magnaclean fitted and see where they suggest

I agree with GMG. Non of your proposed sites are suitable. Needs to be on the boiler primary return to work efficiently.

don't bother with a magnaclean fit a spirovent magnabooster on the boiler return, much better product.

Which is best - magnaclean or spirovent?
The magnabooster is obviously better made, but it will have to be good to get as much carp out as a magnaclean does. They're new out, I haven't tried one yet, so how do they compare for removing the crapola?

The dirt separation part of the spirovent will not perform well if there are any additives in the water which reduce surface tension.
