Mailbox question

At the moment, the end of my drive has automatic gates. On the roadside of the gates, is a mail box attached to the gates, so the postie can just drop the mail in there, and i collect it when leaving the house etc.

Anyway, i now need to replace this, but instead of it being on the outside of the gate, i want it attached to the inside (driveway side) of the gate. My problem is, my gates at constructed with vertical bars, and not horizontal like most letterbox holes.

So, how do i get around this dilema?? I thought I would just purchase a mailbox with a horizontal letterobx, but cant find any.

that is brilliant you guys, exactly what i need.

As for the butler, i used to get him to fetch the mail, but what with the credit crunch, I banned him from using the bentley, and it was taking him too long to walk it!
