Hi everybody. I have just moved into a property where the above boiler has been switched off for six months. I've bled the radiators and replaced batteries in the control panel. Boiler doesn't want to start. I think I hear it lighting but it won't work for longer than a few seconds and the display on the boiler itself goes haywire. Could someone have shut a valve off somewhere - apologies, I'm new to this.
Cheers
Stuart

Hello Stuart,

Yes a valve could be shut off, but also the pump could be stuck/seized if it hasn’t been in operation for 6 months. If you’re unsure of the valves, post a photo of them under the boiler. Also, make sure the system pressure is adequate, again, there should be a visible gauge underneath

Hi Stuckinarut, thanks for replying. Here are the valves, hope you can make sense of the photos! Are replacement pumps expensive do you know?

Pumps can be expensive, especially erp ones. Just done a quick search and yours is approx £200 give or take. What I think you need is a gas safe registered engineer or Baxi on a fixed price repair

very likely that the pump has stuck after not being used for so long they have a hole in middle of head that a thin posidrive goes in and the impellor maybe able to be freed .
The main eco comes with a 5 year warranty so provided its been registered and serviced it may well still be covered by baxi

Thanks gas112 and Stuckinarut, I'm guessing the photos don't show anything in the wrong position? I'll try to find an engineer then. Thanks again.
