Main water stop tap help

Hi

I need to turn my water off outside to fix the internal stop tap but came across this?

Does the top unscrew and the isolated valve is below or is it a matter or turning this anti clockwise to isolate the water.

I’m having issues with this as it’s solid and won’t move

Are you sure that’s a)your shut off valve and b) sure it’s for water?

Yeah it says water on it

That looks like a screwed steel (black iron) socket with a plug in it .
Not a stop tap!

It blanks off a pipe! Without seeing the setup it's impossible to say, but it's a redundant feed for something I'd imagine. Undoing it is likely to get you rather wet.

I think it looks like a stop valve. Either call the local water authority or get a decent plumber
