hi i am putting my own cable in for mains supply,
it will be 50MM as it is 360m long how will i termanate at each end.
the lecie board are trmanating in a field in small concret building built by me,
and other end goes to stable near house,
i am sure i need some sort of switch bow at each end to bring cable down to managable size ,

it looks strange to see small electricboard cable and my huge 50mm next to it
i think i need somethink with bus bars so i can bolt the cables to but what

thanks Gary

A metal clad switch fuse would be the best option at the origin, supplied by 25mm tails. 50mm is going to be better in a TP switch fuse rather than a small SP unit.

Use a metal clad switch at the other end, or terminate directly into the DB if it is large enough.

What earthing system are the DNO providing you with? You need to know this to determine how you go about earthing.

You need to gland the cable to the switch fuse and DB correctly.

HI WAS TIINKING OF DRIVING A EARTH SPIKE INTO THE GROUND AND USING THAT INSTEAD OF A EARTH CABLE

CAN YOU GET DB AND SWITCHES THAT TAKE 50mm its a big lug

Loads more infor required.

Size of the supply.

What it's supplying.

Earthing type.

Premises type.

How many final circuits.

It sounds like you need the services of a competant electrician who is familiar with working with this size of cable!

50mm² isn't huge, and is pretty easy to work with if you're used to it.

Something like a 200A switch fuse with a spreader box would be fine. (Fitted with an apropriatly sized fuse)

Like lectrician says a TP switch fuse will be easier to work in.

Are you sure you are upto this task?

THANKS I WILL PUT THE CABLE IN AND GET A SPARKIE TO DO THE REST

WHAT ABOUT THE EARTH ROD WILL THIS BE A SUBSTITUTE FOR THE EARTH CABLE

Again, what is your earthing supply type?

Why would you want to TT your installation if a perfectly good supply earth is available?
