Hi,

In getting a hallway ready to replaster I've discovered that the main socket ring and a light ring cables hidden behind a doorframe and unprotcted above this. (running from floor to ceiling)

Is this ok to leave them there... and I i will be truncking the cable above the door frame to make it protected?

Thanks,

James.

Is there a light switch or a socket in the vertical run that the cables are in. This wil indicate the presence of the cables.

If there is not then you have a few choices

1. Put a socket where the cable is, then people will know there may be a cable there.
2. Run the cables in earthed steel conduit,
3. Bury the cables deep in the wall so they are more than 50mm from the surface (either side of the wall
4. Move he cables to safe zones (see WIKI for details).

Thanks for the advice. There was enough slack in the cables to move them to be in line / very close / to the nearby lighting circuit - so they're now in the area covered vertically by the switch.
