Mains powered siren

Hi,

I'm after a mains powered internal siren that is triggered simply by switching on the power via the mains power socket (can be via 24v adaptor). I've seen some from Cranford controls but not sure if these are what I'm looking for :-

Basically I have a whole bunch of Hive motion sensors and want them to trigger an audible alarm by switching on the Hive Active Plug.

The first option would work with a 12 volt power supply. Have you thought about what might happen if you have a power cut? Or if it gets unplugged? Doesn't sound terribly reliable and could be easily disabled in a break in.

Unplugged, not when connected via a non switched fused spur (as it should be)

Don't worry about a power cut, they are not that often. How long ago did you have the last one?

Our last was over 2yrs ago, about 4mins!

It will be hidden away and it just needs to wake us up in the event of an issue.

Ah, good point - doesn't come with a power supply - maybe the mains version is better than via a standard plug for use with the Hive ?

is painfully loud upto 5 metres from the sounder. Even further for people with sensitive hearing.

That will not only wake you it will then dis-orientate you thus making it difficult to deal with what ever the issue is.

That level of sound is used to cover a large area or to dis-orientate intruders.

Thank you - the volume is adjustable though.

Not as much as you'd like though. Get something that is quieter than that siren even on low volume.

I would go for something like a CQR or Elmdende 12v driven sounder or speaker and inline PSU (connected to a spur if possible).

I think it would help more if you explained why this is needed

Every mains siren will operate when its "mains feed has been switched on".

How is the supply going to be switched on? From what you don't say, the siren is switched on with a light switch?

Switch a relay from your Hive system to operate the siren

As already mentioned - I have a Hive Active Plug that will be used to trigger power to the siren. Thank you.

How reliable are your "whole bunch of motion sensors" in not giving false alarms. Can you ensure that the alarm (?) will not trigger when a person is close to the siren. ?

Why hide a 107 db siren when a much less powerful sounder would wake you without the significant risk of hearing damage,

And as has been said if the issue involves loss of mains power you will not be made aware as the siren will not be able to operate.
