Because my house has a 1 inch incoming water pipe and everything is done off of mains pressure, is that why my cisterns make so much noise?

I am wondering whether or not the ball valves installed in my 4 yr old cisterns are not up to the mains pressure now in my house.

Would that be right?

If they are mains pressure units they should be OK. They the pressure. you may need a pressure reducer on the mains pipe.

If they're low pressure float valves in the cisterns then they will be noisy on mains. You can get restrictors to change them over to high pressure from any good plumbers' merchants, assuming they're standard ball valves. Otherwise, fit Fluidmaster valves if you don't want to reduce the pressure to your whole house with a PRV
