Mandatory ID cards (Brit Card) to be announced tomorrow

The problem is, there are a great many people with next to no critical thinking ability, and who are basically thicker than mince, who simply accept this. If you attempt to educate them, they say you're talking conspiracy theory.
Did anyone ask you for your self-assessment?

A bit OT, but if I were forced to live in another country I'd choose Slovenia. They know how to handle illegals, firmly but fairly. 47,000 illegals turned up at the border in 2024: 42,000 were deported, 5000 applied for asylum, 150 were granted. Partly as a consequence they have very low crime, a high standard of living, low cost of living, cheaper housing, no overcrowding, better nationalised healthcare, better education, less pollution, the list goes on. It's a fantastic country.
With a population of 2,000,000.

I was listening to LBC on the way home and they had a phone in. This lady was so happy to have one ID for everything. I wonder if she would want one key for every door lock? Just imagine how simple life would be…. If a criminal stole her one key for everything.

Don't bother boyo, if your career or your skills are worth less than a second hand dinger. (y)
I see, should I buy an android or an iPhone, Which one in your opinion would increase the value of my career and skills, boyo?

Most people tend to keep their keys together, as a bunch of keys, most people tend to keep their important documents together, most people tend to keep their bank cards together.

A family friend would give you their dinger for free, if your job depended upon it. They are ten a penny boyo. I guess your career options say otherwise.
I expect you'll remain smartphone - less. (y)

Crime is increasing in Slovenia, and it's the worst types of crime. Even though Slovenia has on the lowest prison populations per capita.

There's a sociological theory about crime in society:
The German sociologist Ferdinand Tönnies's theory distinguishes between Gemeinschaft (community) and Gesellschaft (society), where Gemeinschaft describes traditional, close-knit groups bound by kinship, tradition, and shared beliefs, while Gesellschaft characterizes modern, impersonal societies based on individual self-interest and formal contracts. While Tönnies didn't develop a specific theory of crime, his concept of Gemeinschaft implies that its erosion and the rise of Gesellschaft, with weakening traditional bonds and increasing individualism, correlate with increased crime rates because the informal social controls of community are replaced by formal, impersonal legal systems like police and prisons to manage deviance.
Ferdinand Tönnies's theory

Basically it means that the more impersonal a society is (like large cities and towns), people are disconnected from the other people, they see in the street, etc. thus the higher the crime rate because criminals don't see their crimes as affecting someone close to them. And they think that no-one knows them when they commit the crime.
Whereas in close knit communities, when a crime is committed, most people can guess who is the likely culprit. And the crime is invariably committed against one of their on.

Ergo, extrapolating that theory, small populations have lower crime rates.

Si_ I never realised you were such a great supporter of socialism and a fair wealth distribution.

If you want that here, vote for left wing progressive policies, ie the opposite of Reform.

Do you want to know the real reason Slovenia has such a high standard of living?

The answer is not low immigration.

The answer is it has the second lowest income disparity in the world.

Slovenia has created a more balanced and inclusive society where everyone has a relatively equal chance to earn a fair income.

How has this happened?

A = Yugoslavia embraced socialist policies prioritizing social welfare and economic planning. The main goal was to create a more even distribution of wealth and resources among the people.

A fundamental aspect of Yugoslavia’s socialist approach was its commitment to workers’ rights and the labour force. The government emphasized collective ownership of major industries, encouraging workers’ self-management and participation in decision-making processes. This structure helped prevent the excessive concentration of wealth in the hands of a few individuals or corporations.

The socialist policies in Yugoslavia were accompanied by a strong emphasis on social welfare programs. The government made significant investments in healthcare, education, housing, and other social services, considering access to these…

On the same ring, in the same drawer, in the same wallet.
all the important bank cards, keys, passports, etc.. In one easy to nick location?

that doesn't sound very clever to me.

Do you think it might be better to keep them separately, so that.. I dunno.. you don't lose all of them in one go.
