I have the idea of using some marine ply I have for a outdoor folding table for summer. it is 19mm thick in 8 inch strips how do I know if it is good quality for the job and what should I seal it with I was going to rout the edges to give a smooth finish and wondered about water ingress

Good quality marine plywood is expensive.

You should not see any gaps or poor veneer joints on the edge of the panel.

The face veneer should have a good consistant thickness, clear of major defects.

Marine plywood should be clearly marked as BS1088 plywood.

Any of the above is wrong - avoid.

About as much as I can tell you without going into fairly technical measures.

thanks
well i have had it boiling and then soaking in water thaen left out over a couple of nights and it looks fine I just wondered if a coat of something might be a good idea i will be staining it to a mid oak colour
regards
