So whats the maximum size cable you can terminate into a standard wiring accessory, a Switched fused Spur with line in and line out.

I have got scenario which just does not sound right but not sure if it is covered by regs or by the manufacturers instructions.

I don't think BS7671 has anything specific about maximum cable sizes. It does require manufacturers instructions to be taken into consideration, but not necessarily strictly followed. It also has general requirements for good workmanship.

IIRC BS1363 specifies that sockets should accept at least 3x2.5mm² or 2x4mm² I'm not sure if that also applies to FCUs. It doesn't forbid them from accepting more.

The datasheet for A MK FCU specifies the following.

Supply terminal: 2 x 6mm² stranded
2 x 4mm²
3 x 2.5mm²
Load terminals: 2 x 6mm² stranded
(1 x 6mm² on earth terminal)
2 x 4mm²
3 x 2.5mm²

They don't mention 10mm² but if a terminal will accept 2x6mm² it will probablly accept 1x10mm². Getting the wiring into the backbox may be a challenge though.
