Hi.

I just got a second hand Maytag Jetclean (DWU8860AAX), which I was told worked just fine (from a friend so I believe him).

I hooked it up, and it seemed to work just fine. So I loaded it up and ran it. A couple of hours later I noticed a smell, and a plastic lid had melted. I initially thought it was just because it was a cheap lid (my old dishwasher melted a few when they fell thru to the bottom and hit the heating element).

However, a few hours later I noticed the smell again, and opened up the dishwasher, and it was still blazing hot in there.

It appears that the heating element is not shutting off. FWIW, I have air dry selected on the bezel.

I only had one minor(?) problem during the install: I turned the power on before putting the junction box cover back in place. I had rotated it while hooking up the wires, and it was touching the two contacts directly to the right of it (yellow-black & whitex2 wires). So the breaker blew immediately when I turned it on. Took me a few minutes to realize what the problem was. I then pivoted the cover away from those wires and flipped the breaker back on with no problems.

I've done a quick wiring inspection and don't see anything obvious that is wrong. I have turned the breaker off until I get this thing resolved.

Any idea on what to do here?

Thanks.
