I am pleased that you have been able to resolve it, it is only natural that once you start fault-finding, that you cannot stop till you find something.
I am still pleased that you have a spark round to check it, if this could happen in one of your socket outlets there may be more to be found. He can at least test that there is the minimum amount of insulation resistance on each circuit for you.
Bet the wife is happy that she was able to point you in the right direction to solve it, you could not have done it on your own.
