Mk units are of better quality than some other cheaper makes.

Maybe (although that has changed quite a lot in recent years) - but there must have been something seriously wrong (not just 'poor quality') with the previous ('cheaper') FCU if it really did warm up with no load!! (I frankly find it hard to believe).
