Hi folks,

Recently purchased a playhouse for my daughter and want to line one of the walls with wood and then paint up as a blackboard for her.

Am I best off using ply, mdf or something else in terms of simplicity to paint with the blackboard paint and weather resistance (although it is inside the playhouse so is this a concern?)

i personally would use 6/9/or 12mm ply
12mm will allow you to hang things off it off a reasonable weight or 6-9mm for light weights
ply is easier to screw into than hardboard
and mdf must not get wet like wet clothes touching or painting water splashes
ply can get very wet several time without damage as long as dries in between
it may start to discolor eventually but can be painted

I would investigate Hardibacker board, which is a cement based board and is used for commercial blackboards in an external environment. One side is smooth. Available from Topps tiles amongst others.
