Thanks for all your help. Had the sparks in today and he solved the problem relatively quickly. It was a neutral/ earth problem which the other guys completely missed. All is deep joy and happiness. Once again, thank you very much for your skill and help.
It was a halogen standard lamp. It seems it had become so hot when it was on that it "Crumbled" the insulation on the cables causing the neutral to earth out. The reason it was blowing the board more frequently as time passed, was that each time it was used it caused even more deterioration of the cable and so on. But the good news is I HAVE POWER!!!!! Still don't know why the first sparks didn't find it but, hey, haven't had his bill yet!
... all I've done is ,Item by Item, remove the plug fom the socket of each appliance until the RCD blows and it did evey time. And I've done that to everything in the house...
Is it the Halogen Lamp outside in the Garden? - like mine - I have a Double Pole switch with Neon indicator between it and the rest of my house lighting circuit.
The double pole switch on the outside light was required in, I think, the 15th edition (correct me if I am wrong), and is useful for fault finding in this situation.
Nah it 's one in my kitchen and, yes, "Hands in th Air" as they say, I'm guilty, - I missed it!! Thing is it's not a lamp that's on every day. the only reason I use it is because I have a Micromark kitchen light fitting that overheats the transformer on occasion which cuts out the light until it cools enough to come on again. And , yes, I contacted Micromark and replaced the transformer and it still happens!!!This isn't a new advice request though, honest, - I will replace the fitting.
